Tea Tsulukiani: Gakharia’s Return is Not Damaging to our Team

“Gakharia’s return, no matter how surprising, is not detrimental to our team. I do not understand why this is good for him, I, as a politician, have a question mark about it,” current Minister of Culture, former Justice Minister of Georgia Tea Tsulukiani said regarding the statement of the former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia about returning to politics.

The Minister of Culture says that Giorgi Gakharia will create real opposition to the government if he enters the political arena.

“I hope he knows what he is doing. He is a highly professional person and if he comes out on the political scene, he will be our real opposition. He knows our team very well. I was the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice during his leadership, and he knows well where my strengths and weaknesses are, but, in turn, I also have the same information about him. For me personally, it will be an interesting process of opposition, how much it will end with his victory, I have great doubts about that,” Tsulukiani told Radio Imedi.

Gakharia resigned as PM on February 18 due to differences of opinion about the arrest of Nika Melia, the leader of the National Movement.

Following his resignation, the former PM  recently stated that he is not going to leave politics.

“Despite a lot of different rumors, I am not going anywhere. Moreover, I will not leave politics. In fact, we are following the plans, our agenda, which will give us the opportunity to share and tell you everything in detail in the near future,” Gakharia said in his first media statement since the resignation on March 22.

Reportedly, he is now planning to establish a political party and a new political force.
