The US Embassy in Georgia is warning citizens that the visa bond program has become permanent in all countries where it was implemented, including Georgia. According to the embassy, every Georgian citizen whose B1/B2 visa application is approved must pay a deposit of $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000. The amount will be returned to the citizen on fulfilment of the entry-stay-exit requirements.
The statement further states that the deposit should not be paid in advance: “Do not pay the deposit in advance. During the interview, a consular officer will provide instructions on how to pay the deposit.”
The embassy reminded applicants that the official source for visa application information is the US government and that any information not published by a US government source should be verified.
