Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a government meeting that Georgia is maintaining a high pace of economic growth, adding that this will remain one of the country’s main priorities in the future.
According to the Prime Minister, maintaining a high pace of economic growth is also linked to the elimination of corruption.
We had a good indicator in June – economic growth stood at 8.6%. The average growth rate for the six-month period reached 7.9%, which means that we are maintaining a high pace of economic growth, and this will remain one of our main priorities in the future as well,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
“Alongside maintaining a high pace of economic growth, international financial institutions have increased their initial forecasts, which is also important. These results are, on the one hand, the outcome of successful economic policies and, on the other hand, the result of our success in eliminating corruption at the highest levels of government. Work to fight corruption at lower levels must continue, but we have introduced a fundamental transformation in the governance system. Maintaining a high pace of economic growth is also linked to the elimination of corruption, in addition to successful economic policies. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Minister of Economy and his team. These achievements in the economic sector are the result of their successful work.”
Irakli Kobakhidze said that Georgia’s foreign exchange reserves are growing alongside economic growth, with the National Bank of Georgia actively working in this direction.
