The National Environmental Agency of Georgia has released a weather forecast for the coming days, warning of adverse conditions across several regions of the country.
The agency says rainfall is expected in western Georgia, with heavy precipitation forecast in some areas from the evening of February 3 through the morning of February 4. Sea conditions may worsen, with storm activity reaching 3–4 points. Strong westerly winds are expected to affect most parts of the country.
Snowfall is forecast in mountainous regions, with heavy snow expected in certain areas. Weather conditions may include fog, blizzards, and an increased risk of avalanches. Due to heavy snowfall, poor visibility, blizzard conditions, and avalanche danger, temporary traffic restrictions may be imposed on specific sections of roads.
The anticipated rainfall could cause a significant rise in river levels in western Georgia, and may also trigger landslides and mudflows in hilly and mountainous areas. The agency assesses the overall risk level for these processes as medium.
