Tbilisi City Hall is increasing the budget for the rehabilitation project of Rustaveli Avenue by GEL 7.8 million, according to two additional tenders published on the website of the State Procurement Agency.
The tender descriptions indicate that the additional works involve the rehabilitation of sidewalks from Chovelidze Street to Rustaveli Metro Station. The tenders do not include detailed project descriptions, and companies can submit applications until August 17.
BM.GE reports that the current rehabilitation works on Rustaveli Avenue are being carried out by Smart Solutions, which is expected to complete the project by November. The company’s director, Levan Gogsadze, previously told BM.GE that completing the works within the initial 100-day timeframe would likely not be possible.
At the same time, GWP is replacing drinking water and sewage infrastructure on Rustaveli Avenue, investing GEL 12.5 million in the project.
The rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue began on July 23 at 00:00, with all types of vehicle traffic fully restricted on the avenue and part of Merab Kostava Street. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said the rehabilitation works are expected to be completed by the end of November.
