Georgia’s Environmental Supervision Department detected 112 cases of illegal forest use in July 2026, including illegal logging, timber transportation and violations by sawmills.
The Environment Ministry said 67 cases involved illegal timber extraction and transportation, while 45 were linked to illegal sawmill activities. Fifteen cases contained signs of criminal offences and were referred to relevant agencies.
Authorities seized around 480 cubic meters of illegally obtained timber and sealed five unregistered sawmills in July. Since the beginning of 2026, a total of 1,026 illegal forest use cases have been identified nationwide.
