Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressed the investigation launched by the State Security Service under the sabotage article, saying that if anyone carries out sabotage against Georgia, justice will catch up with everyone involved.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said that the state is stronger than ever today.
“Launching an investigation into this case is very important, and it is even more important that this investigation is brought to completion,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said. “I repeat once again – those involved in sabotage against their own country, those who oppose their national interests, must know that justice will catch up with all of them. This will definitely happen because today the state is stronger than ever. Therefore, we will confront all attempts directed against Georgia’s national interests.”
The State Security Department of the State Security Service of Georgia has launched an investigation under the sabotage article into a discrediting information campaign allegedly managed from a foreign country and supported from Georgia, which is considered harmful to Georgia’s state interests.
The SSSG said the case concerns the targeted spread of information containing discrediting content against Georgia’s interests through fake so-called bot accounts registered and managed in a foreign country on various social platforms. The agency said the campaign aims to damage Georgia’s economic interests.
The State Security Service explained that the goal of the campaign is to create a false perception through disinformation that Georgia has become an unfavorable environment for tourists arriving from the Russian Federation.
