Following the announcement of the exit poll results by Imedi TV, Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chairman of Georgian Dream, addressed party supporters at the Georgian Dream office. He dismissed the opposition protests as illegitimate.
“We are standing firm and controlling the situation. How can 80% of people support a party and in parallel 10,000 people stage a coup? It is unthinkable!” Ivanishvili said.
He accused the opposition of catastrophically losing the elections and attempting to shift political processes to the streets.
“They are trying to deceive us, to provoke chaos, to create mass unrest and undermine our power. But the Georgian people are wise, and look at their numbers. The opposition lost badly, yet they are again trying from the streets,” he added.
Ivanishvili emphasized that the stability of the country rests on the people and society, affirming Georgian Dream’s control over the situation.
