Additional 40 firefighters from Georgia to be sent to Turkey

Firefighters and rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia rescued a young woman from the ruins in the city of Adiyaman, Turkey, in the course of the rescue operation held after Monday’s devastating earthquake. The rescued woman was transferred to a medical facility in a conscious state.

Georgian rescuers were continuously involved in rescue operations throughout the night in the city of Adiyaman. A field camp has been set up at the site and Georgian fire rescuers are working in close coordination with the operational control center operating in Adiyaman province.

A special group of 60 rescuers departed for Turkey under the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili. It was also decided to send an additional 40 firefighters from Georgia to the city of Adiyaman, to join the main group of rescuers.

The group of Georgian rescuers is comprised of rescuers, cynology specialists, and rescue dogs trained for eliminating the consequences of earthquakes and implementation of various rescue operations.

The rescue team is equipped with modern acoustic devices, drones, as well as a communication vehicle and other relevant special rescue gear.

The head of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia – Teimuraz Mghebrishvili personally coordinates the rescue activities of the Georgian firefighters.
