4,575 vehicle emissions violations were identified in four Georgian cities between January 1 and June 30, 2026, the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported.
The highest number of violations was recorded in Tbilisi, where 2,699 cases were identified, followed by Batumi with 821, Kutaisi with 694, and Rustavi with 361.
3,982 violations were committed by individuals, while 593 cases involved legal entities that were fined.
Passenger car owners accounted for 2,634 violations, while 1,837 cases involved minibuses. The remaining violations included 101 trucks and three buses.
The Environmental Supervision Department has been checking visible vehicle emissions on roads in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and Rustavi since September 2023 as part of efforts to improve air quality and reduce transport-related pollution.
The Department says it has expanded its monitoring capacity by increasing the number of inspection teams, purchasing hybrid vehicles, providing teams with measuring equipment, and regularly retraining employees. It added that these measures have allowed inspectors to cover more locations and vehicles.
