The United Kingdom has declared that it does not recognize the legitimacy of the presidential elections held on February 15, in Georgia’s Abkhazia breakaway region.
The British Embassy in Tbilisi released an official statement, reaffirming their support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “The UK does not recognize the legitimacy of the so-called Presidential elections in Georgia’s Abkhazia region on 15 February, 2025,” the statement said.
The British government highlighted Georgia’s internationally recognized borders, stating, “We reiterate our full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.”
The statement shows that the UK, alongside other Western allies, supports Georgia’s territorial unity internationally.
