Nikoloz Rachveli to GD – Your actions are unacceptable, justice is the highest value and Antsukhelidze’s soul deserves it

The actions of Georgian Dream representatives are unacceptable! I promise you that I will make Georgian art love the true heroes of our time even more! I think this is my mission now – musician Nikoloz Rachveli said in response to a statement by parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia concerning concerts held in Russia by individual representatives of Georgia’s cultural sector, including Rachveli, after the August 2008 war.

“This evening I came to Kyiv from Lviv because I have a rehearsal with the orchestra tomorrow. We are preparing two festival programs simultaneously,” musician Nikoloz Rachveli wrote.

“No sooner had I stepped into my apartment than the air raid alert was declared and ballistic missiles fell around me… I ran to a shelter… then returned home because I have to organize the sheet music by tomorrow… It is peaceful for a little while, although we expect another aggressive Russian assault at dawn… and I am preparing for the rehearsal…

“So now tell me, is this Kvirtskhalia guy – I think that’s his name – ready to endure this reality in order to do something good tomorrow?

“The actions of representatives of ‘Georgian Dream’ are unacceptable! I promise you that I will make Georgian art love the true heroes of our time even more! I think this is my mission now.”

“As for Putin’s bloody regime, if I don’t [expletive], then for me life loses its meaning, as does the God-given right to life and happiness, because justice is the highest value, and above all, the soul of Giorgi Antsukhelidze deserves it.”

Georgian Dream representative and parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia made the following statement: “A number of people serve foreign interests. An example of this is the list of so-called cultural figures who did not refrain from working in Russia between 2008 and 2022, including Sukhishvili, Nikoloz Rachveli and Paata Burchuladze.”
