“You very simply want to take a headline, for example, even in the Russian media, that I am declaring the Russian Federation to be the enemy. This is a specific political statement, which then needs to be followed by concrete steps,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
Kobakhidze noted that this is the kind of political statement that must be followed by concrete steps – roughly the same steps, or exactly the same steps, that your party took in 2008 and in the period leading up to 2008.
“If you did not have a general problem with understanding, you would not be journalists for the United National Movement’s party-affiliated television channels either,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
“Both Formula and TV Pirveli represent the collective United National Movement. This is a party-affiliated media arm of a foreign agency; therefore, you represent the collective United National Movement and are a specific branch of a foreign agency. I am not telling you personally that you are a foreign agent, but your television channel is one of the branches of a foreign agency. Accordingly, your position is shameful when you continue to serve the political party that committed a crime in 2008 and did everything possible to bring about what happened. The fact that you continue to serve this party today is extremely shameful.”
On August 10, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has once again spoken about the normalization of relations with Georgia in an interview with Russia’s state-run TASS news agency. “We are ready to further expand pragmatic ties with Tbilisi. It is obvious that the key to Georgia’s successful development is not confrontation, but cooperation with our country,” Galuzin said.
