Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office has charged two minors in connection with the death of Giga Avaliani. Nia Imnadze was charged with inciting a group attack causing intentional serious bodily harm, while Anastasia Beruashvili was charged with failing to report a particularly serious crime.
The investigation, conducted by the Interior Ministry under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office, found that in September 2025 Imnadze allegedly told friends that her math tutor Giga Avaliani was showing excessive attention toward her. Prosecutors said this prompted Alexander Gabashvili to organize an attack with accomplices.
On October 1, 2025, Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze attacked Avaliani in Tbilisi’s Sea District. Avaliani suffered severe injuries and died on October 24.
Imnadze was charged under Article 25 and Article 117(3)(l) of Georgia’s Criminal Code (incitement of intentional serious bodily harm committed by a group), carrying up to 13 years in prison. Beruashvili was charged under Article 376(2) (failure to report a particularly serious crime), carrying up to 7 years.
The Prosecutor’s Office said Gabashvili, Rikadze and Demetre Chikovani were previously convicted in the case.
The 28-year-old teacher was attacked by minors in Tbilisi’s Temka settlement in October 2025. He survived for 23 days and died on October 24 without regaining consciousness.
