Two individuals have been detained for the unlawful use of the Jack Daniel’s trademark and production of counterfeit alcoholic beverages, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance says.
The agency reports that the suspects were manufacturing counterfeit Jack Daniel’s products in large quantities with the aim of obtaining illegal income and storing them in a warehouse belonging to one of the detainees.
During a search, law enforcement officers seized 300 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages with an estimated value of GEL 22,400.
The investigation is ongoing under Article 196, Part 3, Subparagraph “g” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a prison sentence of three to five years.
