A heartbreaking tragedy occurred in Khashuri when a man returning from work discovered his 9-year-old child dead and his wife unconscious in their home. Interpressnews stated that the woman was last reported in a comatose state and was rushed to the hospital.
Relatives of the family told reporters there were no signs of physical violence on either the mother or the child. “There were no injuries, no wounds, nothing to suggest violence,” one family member said.
Authorities are currently exploring possible causes of the tragedy. While one theory being considered is intoxication, gas poisoning has largely been ruled out. Neighbors reported that gas service inspectors visited the home and “found no signs of gas or carbon monoxide leaks.”
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that an investigation is underway under Article 116 of Georgia’s Criminal Code which deals with death caused by negligence.
