Saakashvili’s Family to Hold Protest Rally in Front of Gov’t Administration Today

The family of the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, is planning a protest rally in front of the Government Administration today.

Mikheil Saakashvili’s brother, Giorgi Saakashvili, told journalists about this near Rustavi Penitentiary Establishment #12 and called on the citizens to support him.

“We see day by day how my brother’s condition is getting worse. I’m very worried, I’m watching a person who is dying, literary. I am obliged to declare there is no more time to wait! I announced a few days ago that I was going to travel to the regions. We have been observing the ongoing processes for two days, we hear mockery and insults towards our family, they say “he should eat!” I appeal to the Georgian Government – come to your senses! It is no longer time to treat the former President of Georgia like this, one who made a great contribution to the progress and building of Georgia. Therefore, the family decided to organize a rally at the Chancellery today at 19:00, which will aim to make the Georgian Government hear the voice of the Georgian people,” Giorgi Saakashvili said.

The ex-president’s family and lawyers say that his condition after the hunger strike and inhumane treatment in prison is critical, and he needs treatment abroad to survive.

The term given to the government by the family of the former President of Georgia has expired. The family was waiting for an answer from the authorities as to whether they were ready to transfer Saakashvili abroad for treatment.
