The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance has arrested a representative of the Zugdidi Municipality Mayor in the Orsanti administrative unit, identified as E.B., on charges of accepting a bribe.
The agency’s statement says E.B. was detained following operational and investigative actions. The investigation revealed that, in the course of his official duties, E.B. issued false certificates of origin for trees and plants to a citizen in exchange for a 300 GEL bribe, seeking personal financial gain.
The case is being investigated under Part 1 of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a penalty of six to nine years of imprisonment.
