Poland’s National Prosecutor’s Office charges Elnur A. in killing of Russian satirical artist. Prosecutors say the 36-year-old suspect shot Robert Kuzovkov, also known by the pen name Semyon Skrepetsky, five times in the eastern Polish town of Biała Podlaska on June 15, 2026.
The prosecutor’s office says Elnur A. has not confessed to the crime and has refused to provide explanations during questioning.
He has been placed in three months of pre-trial detention over concerns of potential flight risk and possible destruction of evidence.
Robert Kuzovkov, known for satirical drawings of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was shot multiple times in the head and chest while walking his dog near his home, prosecutors say, citing investigative findings.
Witnesses say the attacker approached Kuzovkov in a public area and opened fire in broad daylight.
Elnur A. is believed to have acted alone, with authorities saying he was arrested within 72 hours of the killing.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on June 18 that the suspect holds a Georgian passport.
Polish media report that Elnur A. also speaks Azerbaijani and had previously lived in Poland. Some reports suggest he may be linked to another killing in Warsaw years earlier, although this has not been confirmed by investigators.
A source cited by Polish media also suggested the killing may have involved a payment, though authorities have not confirmed this claim.
