Thai media outlet Nation Thailand reports that preliminary autopsy results for Thai travel vlogger Bawornthat “Hlun Solo” Pengsuk, who died in Georgia, indicate failure of the heart and circulatory system, while toxicology and chemical tests remain pending. Forensic experts have not ruled out the possible involvement of toxins or chemicals.
Assistant Professor Dr Worawee Waiyawut, deputy director of Thailand’s Central Institute of Forensic Science under the Ministry of Justice, announced the initial findings on Thursday (August 6) after Hlun’s body was returned to Thailand from Georgia.
Worawee said the body had already undergone a post-mortem examination in Georgia, and Thai forensic specialists explained the results to Hlun’s family, who later authorised the release of preliminary information.
The examination found no signs of physical assault, bruising, injuries or broken bones. Doctors also found no abnormalities in other organs apart from the heart. Thai experts said Georgian doctors appeared to have conducted extensive examinations before the body was transferred.
However, forensic officials stressed that the investigation is not yet complete. Additional laboratory tests, including examinations of heart tissue, toxicology and chemical analyses, are needed to determine whether toxins, chemicals or genetic factors may have contributed to the death.
“The preliminary conclusion today is failure of the heart and circulatory system, but we have not ruled out toxins or chemicals,” Worawee said.
Thailand’s Ministry of Justice will continue coordinating with Georgian authorities to obtain further information, including medical records from the post-mortem examination and chemical testing. Officials said the process could take time.
Worawee also noted that the Georgian death certificate did not specify the cause of Hlun Solo’s death.
The Thai solo traveler and YouTuber, known as Hlun Solo, was found dead in a hotel in Tbilisi, reportedly on July 14. His family said they had been unable to contact him since July 13. The Ministry of Internal Affairs only announced information about the death of 27-year-old Hlun Solo on July 29. The agency said it had launched an investigation under the article on incitement to suicide. Hlun Solo’s family rejects the suicide theory and is demanding a full investigation into the circumstances of his death. The Thai authorities and the family are awaiting the completion of the Georgian investigation.
