On Int’l Women’s Day, President awards five female human rights defenders with medals of honor

In connection with the International Women’s Day, the President awarded five female human rights defenders with medals of honor.

The President’s administration disseminates information about this.

The following were awarded: co-founder of “Safari” organization Babutsa Pataraia, human rights defender Ana Arganashvili, founders of “National Network for Protection from Violence” Eliso Amirejibi and Nato Shavlakadze, and founder of “Vedzeb” organization Tamar Museridze.

The President of Georgia awarded the lawyer, co-founder of the “Safari” organization Babutsa Pataraia, for her special personal contribution to the protection of women’s rights, women’s empowerment, gender rights in the fight against violence, and promotion of the establishment of a non-violent environment.

Ana Arganashvili was awarded for her special personal contribution to protecting the rights of children and women with disabilities, fighting against violence and discrimination.

The founders of the National Network for Protection from Violence: Eliso Amirejibi and Nato Shavlakadze were awarded the state award for their special personal contribution to the protection of women victims of gender-based violence, their social integration and economic empowerment, for their special efforts in advocating systemic changes in the fight against violence and developing human resources.

The President awarded Tamar Museridze for exceptional civic initiative and responsibility, personal courage and outstanding public activity. The awarding ceremony was held in the Orbeliani palace and the president personally presented the state awards to the human rights defenders.
