Mikheil Kavelashvili has appointed Giorgi Modebadze as a new judge at the Constitutional Court of Georgia.
Modebadze has served within Georgia’s judicial system for many years. He also previously held the role of Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth.
Under Article 60 of the Constitution of Georgia, the Constitutional Court is composed of nine judges appointed for a 10-year term. Three judges are appointed by the President, three are elected by Parliament with a qualified three-fifths majority, and the remaining three are appointed by the Supreme Court.
Modebadze’s appointment follows the early termination of Irine Imerlishvili’s mandate, who had served on the Constitutional Court since 2016 as a presidential appointee. Her resignation took effect on October 20, 2025, based on her own application, as confirmed by an order from the Court’s Chairman.
