Amy Diaz becomes US Chargé d’Affaires in Georgia

Amy W. Diaz, a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, has assumed the position of Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the US Embassy in Tbilisi, the embassy announced.

Diaz took up the post in July 2026. The embassy notes that Diaz previously served as Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., and Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi.

Her previous assignments include Deputy Director of the US Department of State’s Office of Policy and Global Issues for Europe, Consular Section Chief at the US Embassy in Harare, and head of the US Embassy Kabul Counternarcotics Team.

Diaz has also previously worked at the US Embassy in Tbilisi as Internal Political Unit Chief. Her other diplomatic postings include roles at US missions in Panama City, Harare, and Monterrey.

The embassy states that Diaz joined the US Department of State in 2002 as a Presidential Management Fellow and entered the Foreign Service in 2005. Diaz is a graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, and holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arizona.
