The demolition of the Rike Tubes, a landmark structure in Tbilisi’s Rike Park, is underway.
The building, which was constructed under the previous government and was originally intended to serve as a concert and exhibition venue, remained unused for years after the project was left undeveloped.
The property was sold by the state in 2022 for GEL 10.02 million on its sixth attempt. Following the purchase, the new owner applied to Tbilisi City Hall for permission to demolish the structure, and the request was approved.
Based on an order issued by Tbilisi City Hall’s Architecture Service, the demolition must be completed by December 25.
The Rike Tubes were designed by renowned Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas.
