Georgia’s tourism revenues reached $1.9 billion in January-June 2026, down 2% compared to the same period last year, the National Tourism Administration reported.

The number of international tourist visits to Georgia during the first six months of 2026 totaled 2,272,964, which is 2,601 more visits than in the same period of 2025, marking a 0.1% increase.

At the same time, the total number of international traveler visits, which includes tourists and other categories of visitors, amounted to 3,050,173, down 3.3% year-on-year.

The decline was more noticeable in the second quarter. Between April and June 2026, Georgia recorded 1,749,668 international traveler visits, a 4.9% decrease compared to the same period last year. International tourist visits in the same period totaled 1,275,435, down 2.7%.

The Tourism Administration said the decline in international traveler numbers was linked to reduced flows from countries affected by regional conflicts and related air travel restrictions.

The administration added that diversification efforts and marketing campaigns helped offset the impact, with increased visitor numbers recorded from Europe, China, and Central Asia.

Georgia received a record 249,201 visits from the European Union and the United Kingdom in January-June 2026, a 23.4% annual increase. Tourism revenues from these markets also reached a record $335.7 million, up 21.2%.

The number of visits from China increased by 16.7% year-on-year to 54,554, while visits from Central Asian countries rose by 3.1% to 115,416.

In the second quarter of 2026, tourism revenues decreased by 3.8% year-on-year to $1.1 billion.

The Tourism Administration said 85 airlines currently operate flights to Georgia across 125 routes. It also noted the launch of new services, including Norwegian flights on the Copenhagen-Tbilisi route and China Eastern Airlines flights on the Shanghai-Tbilisi route.

The administration cited UN Tourism forecasts that global international travel growth could slow by 3-4% in 2026 depending on the duration and geographical scope of ongoing conflicts.
