Georgia’s newly introduced biometric passport and electronic ID card have won first place in an international competition recognizing excellence in secure document technology, design and security standards.
The award was presented in the ‘Best Document Series’ category during the High Security Printing EMEA 2026 forum, a leading regional event dedicated to secure document technologies. The forum was held in Rabat, the capital of the Morocco, and organized by the British company Reconnaissance International. The annual gathering brought together more than 300 delegates from around 50 countries.
The winning documents were issued by Georgia’s Public Service Development Agency of Georgia, which began distributing the new-generation biometric passport and electronic ID cards in 2025. The agency stated that the documents were recognized for meeting modern international standards, incorporating enhanced security features and showcasing a distinctive, refined design rooted in national themes.
The award was formally handed to Rusudan Kochodze, Chairperson of the Public Service Development Agency, during the official ceremony.
As part of the forum program, representatives of the agency delivered presentations introducing the design concept and technical characteristics of the new Georgian identification documents. Among them were Tamta Fetviashvili, Deputy Director of the Civil Registry Department, and Natalia Gegelashvili, Project Manager for the new-generation identification documents initiative.
