Valencia crackdown: Three Georgians arrested in organized crime probe

Georgian and Spanish law enforcement officers, following intensive investigative activities carried out in the city of Valencia, have arrested three Georgian citizens who are members of an organized criminal group, while police operations to detain a fourth member are actively ongoing.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated that the police attaché of Georgia participated in the special operation alongside Spanish colleagues.

The detainees are accused of apartment burglaries, money laundering, and membership in an organized criminal group.

“The suspects systematically committed residential burglaries across Spain. Based on a pre-developed plan, they selected homes where the owners were absent, illegally entered the properties using special tools, and seized valuable items and money.

“As a result of searches of the detainees’ personal belongings, vehicles, and temporary residences, law enforcement officers seized stolen items, large amounts of money, and the tools used to commit the crimes.

“Relevant legal procedures defined by law are being carried out against the detainees,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

The Ministry noted that, in order to effectively combat international organized crime, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia continues active cooperation with law enforcement agencies of EU member states, Interpol, and Europol, through police attachés deployed in European countries.
