Georgia’s information technology sector continued its strong upward trajectory in 2025, emerging as one of the country’s leading sources of foreign currency inflows. Data published by the National Bank of Georgia, shows that the sector generated $1.15 billion in external revenue, a 67% increase year-on-year.

The sector’s expansion added approximately $459 million in additional revenue compared to 2024, reinforcing its position as a major contributor to economic growth. Overall, the information and communication sector grew by 28.7% in 2025, making it one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.

A significant share of this growth is related to the influx of IT professionals following regional geopolitical developments in 2022–2023. Specialists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus relocated to Georgia, establishing companies or working as individual entrepreneurs.

Their activities, primarily export-oriented digital services, have been recorded as IT exports, substantially helping sector performance.

Employment in the sector has increased sharply in recent years. The number of people working in information and communications rose from 30,600 in 2021 to 39,000 in 2022, reaching 54,500 by 2025.

The IT sector also remains the highest-paying industry in Georgia. As of the fourth quarter of 2025, the average monthly salary in information and communications reached GEL 4,433, significantly above the national average.
