The Georgian government is set to establish a National Gastronomy Agency and new information technology, environmental and agroservices agencies.
The relevant resolutions, dated June 18, were signed by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
The new entities will be subordinate to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
The government says the new agency is intended to safeguard, develop and promote Georgia’s gastronomic heritage, enhance its international recognition, and ensure a unified state policy in the field of gastronomy.
Gastronomy is described by the government as a key part of national cultural identity and international branding, with growing demand for authentic food products seen as an additional opportunity for Georgia.
Under the resolutions, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture will be responsible for appointing the heads of both agencies, as well as approving their regulations.
Both decisions will enter into force on July 20, 2026.
