Georgia’s Deputy Economy Minister Inga Pkhaladze met with Roland Price and a World Bank delegation to discuss cooperation on energy projects, including the Black Sea submarine cable initiative.

The Economy Ministry says the sides reviewed cooperation within the Energy Security Enhancement, Energy Interconnection and Renewable Energy Program (ESPIRE), as well as progress on the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project.

Preparatory work on the Black Sea seabed survey is underway with the support of the World Bank, the ministry notes.

The meeting participants discussed the implementation of the survey, future activities related to the cable route, environmental protection issues, and the fiber-optic cable component planned within the project.

Zviad Gachechiladze, a member of the Board of Directors of Georgian State Electrosystem, also attended the meeting.
