Tbilisi City Hall has announced temporary night traffic restrictions on Rustaveli Avenue due to New Year lighting installation works.
From 00:00 to 06:00 on 27 and 28 November, vehicle movement will be limited in both directions between First Republic Square and Freedom Square. Cars will still be able to move within both squares and Freedom Square will only be restricted for traffic entering from Rustaveli Avenue.
Alternative routes will remain open. Drivers can bypass the limits using Leonidze, Ingorokva, Alexandre Chavchavadze, Griboedov, Baratashvili and Tabukashvili Streets. Movement from Melikishvili Avenue toward other Mtatsminda district streets will be allowed via Janashia, Tarkhnishvili, Tatishvili, Chovelidze and Zandukeli Streets, then continuing through Barnovi, Gogebashvili and Kakabadzeebi Streets.
Access from other Mtatsminda district streets to Melikishvili Avenue and Rustaveli metro station area will be possible by way of Griboedov, Makashvili, Barnovi and Shanidze Streets.
For vehicles traveling from the Rustaveli metro area toward Freedom Square, movement will shift after turning back near the olive tree/zeytinis tree landmark on Rustaveli Avenue, continuing through Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and the Right Bank of the Mtkvari River.
The city states the restrictions are short-term and apply only during installation hours.
