The family company of US President Donald Trump, together with local partners, plans to build a 70-storey luxury skyscraper in Tbilisi, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing a representative of the Trump Organization.
The project, once completed, would become the tallest building in the Georgian capital. The current record holder is Axis Towers on Chavchavadze Avenue.
The design of the tower is being developed by the international architectural firm Gensler, with the project supported by a consortium that includes Georgian companies Archi Group and Biograpi Living.
Archi was founded by businessman Ivliane (Ilia) Tsulaia, a former Georgian Dream MP, and counts former basketball player Zaza Pachulia among its partners. The company is also involved in a $50 million residential project in Miami.
Biograpi Living is part of the Wissol Group of the Pkhakadze brothers. Its ownership structure is split between Villagio — linked to Global Investors Limited registered in Malta — and Riverside Invest, owned by Toll Trade registered in the Virgin Islands. Vasil Pkhakadze serves as CEO of Biograpi Living.
The Wall Street Journal also reports that the Sapir Organization, a New York-based development company owned by Donald Trump’s former partner Alex Sapir, is participating in the project.
Businessman Ilia Tsulaia confirms the project, saying Archi will build the “Trump Tower” in Tbilisi together with its partners.
“Trump Tower will take Georgia’s real estate sector to a whole new level. I am proud to be a participant in this historic project,” Tsulaia said.
Eric Trump, the president’s son, said in a prepared statement seen by the Wall Street Journal that the Tbilisi development will “extend the company’s world-renowned standard of excellence to Georgia.”
The Trump Organization previously announced plans for a project in Batumi in 2012, but later abandoned it, as the Wall Street Journal reports, citing concerns over potential conflicts of interest linked to Donald Trump’s political role.
