UNM Chair: Tomorrow, the European Parliament will pass a red-line resolution

Tomorrow, an important resolution will be passed in the European Parliament, where the importance of holding re-elections will be discussed – as the MEPs have already mentioned, the resolution will be a kind of red line beyond which it is impossible to restore the relationship between the Georgian Dream and the European Union, – the Chairman of the Unity-National Movement Tina Bokuchava said.

Bokuchava claimed that “we can bring Georgia out of international isolation only through re-elections”.

“We continue our meetings with MEPs. Yesterday we also met many MEPs who saw that the October 26 elections did not reflect the free will of the Georgian people. Tomorrow they will pass a very important resolution, where they will talk about the importance of holding re-elections. Also, there will be another call on the Georgian authorities to release President Mikheil Saakashvili, because it is not allowed for a country with European aspirations to have a political prisoner in the form of President Mikheil Saakashvili. This resolution, as the MEPs have already mentioned, will be a kind of red line beyond which it is impossible to restore the relationship between the Georgian Dream and the European Union. This is the moment when we can bring Georgia out of international isolation only through re-elections,” said Tina Bokuchava, whose speech was published by the party’s press office.

At a briefing held together with Nika Gvaramia and Tina Bokuchava, MEPs discussed the conducting of new elections in Georgia and the sanctioning of the leaders of the Georgian Dream.

Rasa Jukneviciene, Marketa Gregorova and Petras Austrevicius discussed a resolution they had initiated, calling on EU structures to sanction government officials.
