Georgia’s State Electrosystem has explained the cause of yesterday’s temporary nationwide power outage, saying it was linked to technical work being carried out at the Enguri Hydropower Plant (HPP).
Agency says following the system failures that occurred across the country on July 24-25, specialists were conducting inspections of equipment at the Enguri HPP. As part of the process, it was necessary to operate the power system in an isolated mode and at frequencies different from the standard operating frequency, which resulted in a temporary nationwide electricity outage.
The State Electrosystem said the necessary measures were immediately taken to restore the electricity supply, adding that power has now been fully restored across the country.
