Azerbaijan transported just over 17.574 billion cubic meters of natural gas through its main pipelines in January–May 2026, up 2.6% compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, 54.1% of total gas transmission was carried through the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum pipeline, with volumes exceeding 9.507 billion cubic meters, an annual increase of 2.5%.
The pipeline carries gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field, supplying energy to Georgia and Türkiye. First commissioned in 2006, the system initially transported gas from Shah Deniz Stage I, while since 2018 it has also carried output from Stage II following the expansion that enabled additional exports to Türkiye via its link to the TANAP pipeline.
