“We have no one to rely on” – residents of Guria and Adjara appeal to the Government for help
Residents of Guria and Adjara are calling on the authorities for assistance as they struggle with the severe consequences of this week’s heavy snowfall. Many villages remain without electricity, gas, or road access, leaving people in dire conditions.
Locals say they feel abandoned and urge the government to take immediate action to provide aid, restore infrastructure, and ensure their safety.
Since February 20, heavy snowfall has paralyzed movement in Guria and Adjara, leaving many villages completely cut off from the outside world. Although the government sent weather warnings on Friday, those stranded in remote areas urgently need immediate assistance.
Residents affected by the snowfall are calling for road clearance, the restoration of electricity, water, and natural gas supplies, and, in some cases, evacuation from isolated villages.
In some villages, house roofs collapsed under the weight of the snow, while broken trees block the already impassable roads.
Authorities claim that local governments are operating in emergency mode, sharing photos and videos on social media to showcase their response efforts.
However, under these posts, people continue to plead for help. Many report that reaching municipal hotlines is nearly impossible, leaving them without any direct means of assistance.
