Ozurgeti Mayor Paata Kunchulia has resigned from his position. His statement was published on the municipality’s Facebook page.
Kunchulia said the lack of “proper support” and artificially created problems played a role in his decision.
“I’m genuinely disappointed about this, and it played a certain role in the decision-making process. However, this was not the main reason for my decision. I will only add that being in politics proved to be very difficult…” Kunchulia said.
Kunchulia was elected mayor in the October 2025 local elections.
