Free microchipping, rabies vaccination and sterilization of owned dogs have begun across Georgia’s regions, the National Food Agency (NFA) said.
NFA veterinarians are visiting households to identify and register dogs by microchipping and provide free rabies vaccinations. Sterilization is also available free of charge. Information meetings with residents are being held alongside the veterinary procedures.
The program covers all regions and aims to prevent dogs from being abandoned and reduce the spread of animal diseases. Veterinary services are provided at stationary and mobile clinics as well as in the field by private veterinary facilities selected through a tender, while NFA veterinarians monitor the process.
The schedule of veterinary activities is published in advance on Facebook. Dog owners can also contact their local municipalities for information.
