Nighttime road closures in Tbilisi on 20 November

Tbilisi will introduce temporary traffic restrictions on several central streets on 20 November due to the installation of New Year illumination. The first closure will take place on Melikishvili Avenue where vehicle movement will be suspended from 00:00 to 03:00.

A second phase of restrictions will follow between 03:00 and 06:00, affecting both directions on Kostava Street, specifically the section stretching from the Tbilisi State Concert Hall to Rustaveli metro station.

During the closures, alternative routes will be available. Traffic heading from Chavchavadze Avenue and Vera (Varaziskhevi) toward Kostava Street or Rustaveli Avenue will be redirected through Kekelidze, Janashia, Kutateladze, Barnovi and Kakabadze Brothers streets. However, vehicles traveling downhill from Kekelidze Street will not be able to continue toward Melikishvili Avenue.

Drivers coming from Rustaveli Avenue will be able to reroute via Kiacheli and Akhvlediani streets. From Nikoladze Street, left turns will remain open toward Rustaveli Avenue and Chovelidze Street. Meanwhile, movement from Rustaveli toward Heroes’ Square will be permitted through Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and the left bank of the Mtkvari River.
