The US Embassy in Georgia has marked the 18th anniversary of Russia’s military aggression against Georgia, reiterating Washington’s support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Today marks eighteen years since Russia’s military aggression against Georgia. The United States remains deeply concerned by Russia’s continued occupation of Georgian territory and condemns the killings, abductions, and other forms of violence that have occurred under Russia’s ongoing occupation,” the embassy said in a statement.
The embassy also expressed solidarity with the Georgian people and stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
“We stand in solidarity with the Georgian people and reaffirm our commitment to Georgia’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, while emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the statement reads.
