Those charged with assaulting Adjara Public Broadcaster journalist Koba Partenadze and threatening to stab him have been released on bail.

The Interior Ministry detained two people on charges of threatening and assaulting Koba Partenadze, a presenter at the Adjara Public Broadcaster.

Batumelebi reports that the person charged with threatening to stab Partenadze is Giorgi Aptsiauri, while Zurab Kontselidze was detained on charges of violence.

The publication reports that the defense lawyers told the court that the defendants take responsibility for ensuring that such actions will not be repeated.

The judge ordered GEL 7,000 bail as a preventive measure for each defendant.

On August 10, Adjara Public Broadcaster presenter Koba Partenadze posted a video on social media showing a man asking him to “walk alongside him,” referring to his dyed hair and using a homophobic slur.

Partenadze wrote that he has been confronted every evening, insulted, threatened and physically harassed. He called on law enforcement agencies to provide an appropriate legal assessment of all incidents of attacks against him in recent days.
