GYLA: Election process continues with significant violations

GYLA: Election process continues with significant violations

The Young Lawyers Association of Georgia [GYLA] has published the results of their election monitoring as of 3pm.

The organization claims that “the election process continues with significant violations”.

Their observers report that there were:

  • Violations of voter secrecy;
  • An attempt to interfere with the activities of observers and media;
  • Agitation;
  • Registration of voters inside and on the perimeter of the precincts.

The GYLA noted various violations across the country:

On the perimeter of the 34th district of Batumi, the fact of transporting already marked persons in a minibus was observed;

In the 43rd precinct of Kutaisi, the procedure for filling out the ballot was not fully explained to the voter;

In the 5th precinct of Sachkhere, the voter was not given the opportunity to change a wrongly colored ballot;

The portable ballot box moved from the 29th election precinct of Telavi district was carried out by unauthorized persons instead of the persons responsible for this task;

The portable ballot box moved to the 73rd precinct of Saburtalo district returned to the precinct in an unsealed state, after which the commission cancelled it;

After the return of the portable ballot box from the 63rd precinct of Gldani District, one less ballot was found among the unused ballots;

An unknown person broke into the 23rd precinct of Baghdati district and damaged the main ballot boxes and vote counting machines;

At the 69th polling station of Marneuli, ballots were allegedly thrown violently into the ballot box;

Cases of physical violence were detected at the 74th polling station of Marneuli, 11th polling station of Akhmeta-Matani and 22nd polling station of Gori, 9th polling station of Isani, 74th polling station of Kizilajlo and the surrounding area;

At the 84th election precinct of Gori, an attempt at physical violence and a threat to one of the representatives of the opposition was revealed;

At the 33rd polling station of Gardabani, the facts of allegedly influencing the voters’ will and violating the secrecy of the election vote were revealed.
