Georgia’s Mariam Shengelia fails to qualify for Eurovision 2025 final

Georgia’s representative, Mariam Shengelia, did not advance to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Performing her song “Freedom” in the second semi-final held in Basel, Switzerland, Shengelia was among six acts eliminated from the competition.

The semi-final featured 16 countries vying for 10 spots in the final. Alongside Georgia, Australia, Montenegro, Ireland, Czechia, and Serbia also failed to qualify. The qualifiers from this round include Austria, Israel, Malta, Luxembourg, Denmark, Armenia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Greece.

Shengelia’s entry, “Freedom,” was selected internally by the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) and was composed by Keti Gabisiani with lyrics by Buka Kartozia. The song, performed in both Georgian and English, marked Shengelia’s first solo appearance at Eurovision, although she had previously participated as a backing vocalist in 2020.

The Eurovision 2025 Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, in Basel, featuring 26 acts: 20 qualifiers from the semi-finals and six automatically qualified countries, including host Switzerland and the “Big Five”—France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

For a complete list of the Grand Final qualifiers and more Eurovision 2025 coverage, visit the official Eurovision website.
