The Government of Georgia has postponed the introduction of a ban on supplying prepared food in single-use plastic food containers and plastic cups.
The changes were introduced through amendments to Government Resolution No. 304 of June 8, 2022, on the technical regulation of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
Under the revised timeline, the ban on supplying prepared food in single-use plastic food containers will take effect on January 1, 2027, while the ban on single-use plastic cups used for prepared food and beverages will come into force on July 1, 2027.
