Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) says it will ban imports of dairy products from Armenia starting July 27.
The agency said the decision follows an inspection carried out between July 14 and 21, during which it claims inspectors found multiple violations. Among them, Rosselkhoznadzor alleged that milk from infected livestock had been used in products exported to Russia.
The move follows a series of Russian restrictions on Armenian imports. Since late May, Moscow has banned the import of several Armenian products, including flowers, mineral water, fruit and vegetables, citing alleged sanitary and phytosanitary violations.
The restrictions were introduced as Armenia prepared for its June 7 parliamentary elections and pursued closer ties with the European Union. A few days after the ruling party led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan won the vote, Russia banned imports of all quarantine-regulated products from Armenia.
