The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) reports that inflation in Georgia reached 5.2% year-on-year in October 2025, with consumer prices increasing by 0.6% compared to September.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as energy and certain food products, stood at 2.7% while core inflation excluding tobacco was recorded at 2.4%.
The rise in annual inflation was primarily driven by higher prices for food, beverages and health-related services which together accounted for the majority of the overall increase.
The food and non-alcoholic beverages category had the strongest impact, with prices up by 11.7% year-on-year, contributing 3.88 percentage points to the total inflation rate. Notable increases were recorded in fruit and grapes (21.0%), vegetables (19.4%), sugar and confectionery (17.2%), fish (16.9%) and oils and fats (13.9%). Bread, cereals and dairy products also became significantly more expensive.
Prices in the health sector rose by 8.9%, adding 0.75 percentage points to the overall inflation rate. The most notable increases were seen in out-patient services (9.3%), hospital care (9.2%) and medical products and equipment (8.0%).
Meanwhile, alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices climbed by 5.6%, contributing 0.36 percentage points to the total. Within the group, tobacco prices rose by 7.2% and alcoholic beverages by 3.9%.
