One of Georgia’s leading bentonite producers, Askangel Alliance, is expanding its operations and strengthening its position in international markets with the financial support of TBC Bank.
Based in the village of Dvabzu, Ozurgeti Municipality, the company operates one of Georgia’s largest bentonite processing facilities, producing both industrial bentonite and mineral-based hygiene products for pets. The total investment in the project amounts to USD 14 million, including up to USD 2.5 million in financing provided by TBC.
Bentonite is a versatile natural material known for its exceptional absorption capacity, making it an essential raw material for a wide range of industries. It is widely used in metallurgy, construction, environmental projects, wine filtration, and the production of pet care products.
Georgia’s bentonite, particularly the reserves extracted in the Guria region, is distinguished by its high quality and unique composition. This competitive advantage enables Askangel Alliance to successfully compete in global markets and export its products to numerous countries, including Poland, Germany, Finland, France, Türkiye, Israel, and others.
The company’s history in Guria began in 2016, when Askangel Alliance established a modern bentonite processing plant equipped with advanced German technologies. Today, the facility produces various types of bentonite-based products tailored to the needs of different industries.
In recent years, one of the company’s key growth areas has been the production of bentonite-based cat litter. Due to its ability to absorb significant amounts of liquid and form durable granules, bentonite is considered an ideal raw material for this sector. In 2025, Askangel Alliance launched a new production facility and introduced its own brand, AskanaBent, to the market.
Alongside expanding production, the company continues to contribute to regional economic development by creating local employment opportunities. Today, 133 people are employed at Askangel Alliance, with the majority being residents of the surrounding area.
TBC has been Askangel Alliance’s key financial partner since the company’s establishment, supporting its development and expansion at various stages. In 2025, following severe snowfall that damaged the company’s facilities in Guria, TBC provided financing for the rehabilitation of the enterprise, including the construction of a new building and support for working capital needs.
Supporting local production and export-oriented businesses remains one of TBC’s strategic priorities. Through financing projects such as Askangel Alliance, the bank contributes to regional economic growth, strengthens Georgian manufacturing capabilities, and supports the country’s export potential.
