Georgia and Tajikistan have signed three agreements aimed at strengthening economic ties, during Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze’s official visit to Tajikistan.
The documents were signed by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and cover cooperation in tourism, civil aviation, and the establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
Kvrivishvili said the agreements will help deepen trade and economic relations between the two countries and create new opportunities for businesses.
“Within the visit, an agreement was signed on the basis of which a joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation will be established. At the same time, an agreement on cooperation in the aviation sector was signed,” the Economy Minister said.
She noted that economic activity between Georgia and Tajikistan, particularly trade, has been increasing in recent years.
The minister added that the agreements are expected to contribute to closer cooperation between business communities and support the launch of direct flights between the two countries.
“Special attention should be paid to the issues of trade, exports from Georgia, cooperation in the tourism sector, as well as the importance of direct flights between Georgia and Tajikistan,” Kvrivishvili said.
During the visit, the Economy Minister participated in expanded-format meetings with Tajik Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda and President Emomali Rahmon.
