Georgia enters the European Drone Powerhouse Network as GDA joins JEDA

The Georgian Drone Association (GDA) has joined the Joint European Drone Associations (JEDA), strengthening Georgia’s integration into the European unmanned aviation network. This move aligns Georgia with EU drone regulations and innovation, accelerating technological advancement and cooperation within the European drone ecosystem.

This strategic milestone marks a turning point for Georgia’s technological and aviation industries, significantly strengthening the country’s integration into the European drone and advanced air mobility landscape.

JEDA works closely with major European aviation and regulatory institutions, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), focusing on critical areas such as:

  • Safe integration of unmanned aerial systems
  • European standards and regulations
  • Innovation and emerging technologies
  • International collaboration
  • Industry representation and development

GDA says membership in JEDA opens direct access to European professional networks, international projects, knowledge-sharing platforms, and cutting-edge industry practices.

Industry experts increasingly view Georgia as one of the region’s most promising emerging markets for drone technologies, particularly in agriculture, logistics, infrastructure monitoring, and operations in complex terrain.

GDA representatives in Georgia — Sandro Margvelashvili and Giorgi Gurgenidze — say this development is a transformative step:

“This membership is more than symbolic. It places Georgia directly inside the European conversation on the future of unmanned technologies and advanced aerial systems.”

One of GDA’s core objectives is to support the development of a modern, safe, and professional drone ecosystem in Georgia by advancing:

  • Agricultural drone development
  • Education and professional training
  • Safety culture and operational standards
  • Industrial and commercial drone applications
  • International partnerships and cooperation

With the global drone industry expanding rapidly, GDA believes Georgia has the potential to become a regional hub for innovation, drone operations, and emerging aviation technologies.

The organization has confirmed it will continue active collaboration with both local and international partners to accelerate the growth of Georgia’s drone sector and strengthen its position within the broader European technology ecosystem.

The Georgian Drone Association (GDA) is a professional organization dedicated to supporting the development of Georgia’s drone industry, safety standards, education, and innovative unmanned technologies.
