Georgia and Azerbaijan sign new law enforcement cooperation agreement

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Vilayət Eyvazov, is paying an official visit to Georgia at the invitation of Georgian Interior Minister Geka Geladze, during which the two countries signed a new cooperation agreement aimed at deepening bilateral ties in the law enforcement field.

The agreement was formally signed by Ministers Geladze and Eyvazov and is designed to further strengthen the long-standing partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, particularly in crime prevention, detection, and suppression. The document outlines enhanced cooperation in several priority areas, including combating illicit drug trafficking, cybercrime, human trafficking, illegal migration, and crimes against property.

As part of the visit, the two ministers held an extended-format meeting to discuss ongoing sectoral reforms, joint projects, and the importance of sharing information and expertise within the framework of police collaboration.

Ministry says both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the already effective cooperation between their respective agencies and expressed readiness to deepen the partnership even further.

During his stay, Minister Eyvazov and the Azerbaijani delegation will also visit various police units in Georgia to become familiar with their structures, functions, and operational activities.
